Fringes are an instant style statement.

Milan Fashionweek FW 2014, day 4

It’s impossible not to have fun when wearing fringes.

Totally. Unheard of.

Indeed, you may break out into some dance moves when wearing fringes.

So if you are the type of gal who likes more fun in her wardrobe then read on for great pieces priced $22 – $350.

The Fringe Factor

Fringes and tassels are pretty timeless – but they have been spotted on the street and the runway for a while and from NYFW they are not going anywhere fast.

But never fear you don’t have to be the beachy gypset boho Coachella festival type of gal to wear them.

I have found some easy fringey pieces to add into your wardrobe so you can shake yer shammy (as they say in dear ole’ Glesga)

$$$ – If money is no object then just head to Net-a-Porter for your Fringe fix – or Tamara Mellon who has the perfect leather fringe skirt in every style imaginable from $600 +.

1. The Black Fringed Skirt

I am not a fan of pleather or PU but I just cannot find a Black Leather Fringed skirt under $800 which is out of my day to day price range. I already have several leather skirts(pink, silver, black)  and the price-per-wear of my black midi pencil one I would say is worth the extra $$$, but to have fun with this trend I would try it out and upgrade if you love wearing it.

Neiman Marcus (outlet)

Vakko Faux Leather

On Sale now $99

Black PU Leather Fringe Skirt

Buy from Amazon $22 AUD

How to Style it:

With a collared shirt –  check out Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo – in her 50s, rocking the fringed skirt – love the black collared shirt with it. Business chic.

With a Slogan Tshirt / LS Sweatshirt

With a checked shirt – like Olivia Palermo

With a Funnel Neck sweater and Leopard Print slip-ons like Eva Chen

2. The Fringed Kimono / Cape/ Poncho

There are heaps of black ones out here but I am loving this one from SEED with its monochrome geometric pattern –  2 – 1 – work the 2015 Stripes and Fringe trend into your everyday style – Mamas – this is easily slipped into your school dropoff or weekend soccer sidelines uniform.

SEED Heritage

How to Style it:

Make sure you belt it like the ladies below. Wear over jeans or dresses.

3. The Fringed Bag

The “Go with Anything” black -try not to buy a PU bag – it is such a waste of money – leather weathers and you can pass onto you children or resell.  This is a small investment but no matter what you are wearing or wherever you are you can enjoy its fringey fun whether at the workplace or out with girls. Also look for fringed clutches for night time or special occasions.

Black Kiri Leather Fringe

If you don’t want to go black or you are not clumsy like me or have my children ( i can see their vegemite fingerprints all over this blue suede perfection) then this is a cool statement for under $150 AUD.

4. The Fringed Heel

Love this Steve Madden Fringly – Nordstrom is a big US dept store very reputable and they now ship to Australia. It might be available in the normal Steve Madden stockists here in Australia but I cannot find it online.

It comes in Black & Beige too but I LOVE the cobalt.

Totally perfect for that night out just add the jeans and T you had on during the day. Easy Peasy.

$175 AUD

5. The Fringed Flat

If like me you are mainly in flats nowadays then there are some great options out there whatever your budget and whether you are looking for a sneaker, loafer or skate shoe, there is a fringed version for you.

I like these fringe & tassel slip ons from ZARA  about $ 70 AUD (stores in Syd & Melb )
