Ready, steady Go
OPTION 1 – BUY – DENIM DOING GOOD
The jeans shown above are from the Rialto Jean Project – an eco-friendly, philanthropic denim brand specializing in hand-painted, one-of-a-kind vintage product. Founder & Creative Director Erin Feniger sources rare American made vintage, personally hand-painting each single piece herself. Rialto Jean Project benefits children through art, with proceeds going to support innovative art therapy programs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and New York – Presbyterian Hospital. Funnily enough .. lots are sold out (see the bit about Oprah)
When I went to buy the ones I wanted (worn by Jessica Alba) – my size were sold out but there are lots of other sizes and colour ways available – all the time.
Buy Here $245
So as the ones I wanted were sold out so
I got thinking … and because ..
- I like sustainable options
- I love upcycling things
- I have 2 very craft loving girls
- It is the Easter Holidays
- I was feeling really under the weather with vague end of termitis type Upper respiratory and needed kid entertainment options as they were racing through my Easter craft ideas at a frightening rate of knots
I thought I could try out
OPTION 2 – DIY
I used an old unloved pair of Opshop $2 Levi bootcuts that I had bought to use as material for a denim quilt … yes don’t ask. I cropped and frayed them as per that new length that I am loving – read here.
I showed them the inspiration pics and let them loose….
Miss 7 yr old loved mixing all the colours to create a wide spectrum and Ms 4 yr old’s hand and brush action was pretty wonderful.
At work below – a blur of activity
Results –so fun
How I wore them today for just some basic everyday errands …
Look out for them in different outfit posts as the weather cools down here.
Worn with: J Crew Grey V Organic cotton neck Tshirt & Wittner white Leather Pointed Monk Loafers, $20 Sunglasses and Witchery leather tote.
New Jeans to add into my wardrobe.
Kids entertained for ooh at least 45 mins. Only 8 more hours to go :)
Win …Win.. !
