I never met a pom pom I didn’t like ..

So true.

A few months ago I saw this picture on Pinterest of customised pom pom leather tie up gladiator sandals on Etsy made by clever lady Elina Linardaki.

They are all made to order and pretty, happy, fun summer sandals.

DIY & CRAFTERNOON WITH MS 5 YR OLD

Watching True Cost documentary about the cost to the environment and humankind of the fast Fashion industry in September really affected me and although I am already a fan of vintage & sustainable style –  it definitely made me feel I could do more.

So October  and Frocktober  coincided with a 30 day Shopping Ban and I have continued to be more of a Conscious Consumer.

So rather than buy new sandals –  I thought what do I have that I could use ?

I found some old unloved tan leather gladiator sandals from the early noughties that I thought could be upcycled and given a bit of a fun makeover with a bit of inspiration from Elina’s pompom sandals.

Today Ms 5 yr old was home sick from daycare with a combination of exhaustion from her tap and ballet concert yesterday and the aftermath of fevers and headaches on Fri/Sat.

Rather than try (in vain) to get the pressing work done – we had a really fun Crafternoon and this was one of the projects.

I like the fact that we did it together and has a memory attached to it. It was really fun and super duper easy and pretty unique.

Bring on denim cutoffs and fun in the sun !
