Poor Ms 9 is on crutches and off basketball for a wee while but that didn’t stop us from heading to the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast champagne breakfast screening before it releases nationally March 23.
Not only is Ms 9 a big fan of the original cartoon film by Disney, but as a strong feminist in the making , someone who devoured the Harry Potter series as soon as she could read and quotes Hermione sporadically – she is a major Emma Watson fan.
Without saying too much – as I enjoy going into events and films with a bit of mystery and discover them myself.
I loved that Belle was a strong, brave, smart female lead and enjoyed the undisputed talent of actors like Josh Gad (voice of Olaf), Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson and Ian McKellen.
Unsurprisingly, the production & wardrobe design is magnificent – the scenes of the objects coming to life in the Beast’s castle is done in a way that feels so fresh and magical.
The musical sequences were dreamy and there are great positive messages – don’t judge people on appearances, don’t single people out and condemn them just because they are different to you and don’t be afraid to grow and become your best self even if that means standing out from the crowd.
In short, it is a kids’s film that I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely take my 6yr old to see (I was worried it might be too scary as it was a PG but I will be checking it out with her)
Plus I am a huge romantic and sentimentalist and not afraid to say quite a few tears were shed..
Ms 9 gave it “10 out of 10 roses”.
Ms 9 styled herself in a Vintage yellow, Belle inspired ruffle dress, sequin kimono and rose.
I went Sunday Sunday simple chic wearing my new Uniqlo X Inés de la Fressange collaboration white denim blazer – which i received at their birthday celebrations – read more about Uniqlo Brisbane here. I did wear my sparkly fringed loafers – which I continue to receive lots of compliments about – get yourself some glittery nana shoes folks – they will make your day.
Check out the Australian premiere in Sydney at the majestic State Theatre, with Josh Gad in attendance. In cinemas nationally from March 23
Personally I am a big Emma Watson fan – for her stance on gender equality and sustainable eco fashion that really sits well with my own values.
An incredible way to take all the red carpet attention and make it profile a good cause.
Pretty apt for #WCW women crush wednesday I reckon

The dress fabric is Newlife recycled polyester, created from used plastic bottles. These are sourced, mechanically processed and spun into yarns in Italy, with a fully traceable supply chain. This saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions compared to creating brand new polyester fibre. The arm band was created in a carbon-neutral mill.
What Emma wore : at the first public screening – and in Paris.
